These programs are as simple as uploading your photo and plugging it in.

I'm not the most computer savvy person on the planet, by any stretch of the imagination. I've often seen a funny picture or effect and thought it either took some serious computer skills to produce or an expensive piece of software. Luckily, my husband's a little more versed in the ways of the Internet, and he pretty much laid it out straight for me...if you want it, chances are, you can find it free online. And, after spending some time poking around, I have to admit he's right—just don't tell him that.

Some of the simplest effects I never knew existed online are the very basic “Your Face Here” types of photo altering programs. The concept is simple, you find a template you like, upload or crop a picture of yourself—or whoever—and plug the face into the image. There are all kinds of sites like this on the net.

  • Festisite.com allows you to put your mug in logos, playing card face cards and a wide variety of currencies from around the world.

  • MagMyPic.com gives you the ability to add your image onto fake magazines and comics. Who wouldn't want to be on the cover of “World of Tatts Monthly” right?

  • FaceInHole.com lets you put your face into famous works of art, celebrity fashion photos, movie stills, silly pictures and a whole lot more.

  • HairMixer on MakeOvr.com helps you to answer the age old question: How would I look in Paris Hilton's hair? The HairMixer gallery of celebrities is vast and there is much fun to be had testing out their 'dos.

How to Make Funny Picture Memes

MemeGenerator.net is a free online source for making funny picture memes.

Funny picture memes are constantly popping up and circulating the Internet. Have you ever wondered how they're made? Can anyone make them?

One of the easiest, free sources for making your own funny picture memes is MemeGenerator.net. They have a huge gallery of memes that users have previously created, plus another gallery of the images without captions if you want to give them a go yourself.

If you want to start from scratch, you can click on the “generate an image” button and choose your own pictures from your computer or grab one from elsewhere on the net. This is how a lot of the hilarious movie stills and captions are made. Then you can customize a new background or just go right to adding the captions.

Another popular meme format that's been huge, on Facebook especially, is the “What I Really...” meme. I've seen these memes for careers, interests and just about every group of people out there, from anime lovers to crochet addicts. Wildly popular. If you've seen them around and wished you knew how to make them, MemeGenerator.net has a separate section just for those.

The process for making a “What I Really...” meme is basically the same as the generic image and caption variety. You choose your pictures and add your captions. The biggest difference is the number of pictures and captions you need, which is customizable as well. You can choose to have 4, 6, 8, or 10 pictures in your meme. From there it's just plugging things in.

Creating memes is a lot of fun—almost as much fun as sharing them. And, if you're like me, and weren't born with a natural technical inclination, the simple programs on MemeGenerator make it easy, too.

Funny St. Patrick's Day Pictures

St. Patrick's Day has always been a fun holiday for me, even though I'm not of Irish descent. And, since I married an Irishman and have three part Irish sons, it continues to be a blast. I mean seriously. Who doesn't like a holiday where there's an unspoken rule you can pinch random people for not wearing green? It's the little things, folks.

So, in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, I encourage you to grab a frosty mug of green beer and enjoy these funny St. Paddy's pictures from celebrations gone by.

You can't very well have an Irish holiday without Irish setters dressed in green tutus, can you?

"I'm just brimming with pride and thrilled to be here!"

The old country is always on my mind.

Don't be absurd! No self-respecting Irishman dressed as a leprechaun in public would walk around without braided ponytails in his scraggly beard. It lacks sophistication.

Forget the oil can, pass me a Guinness. Wait. Is that Dave Coulier? Uncle Joey?

Even Shrek is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

St. Paddy's PSA: Drink responsibly and always walk your burro home. You both have Cinco de Mayo to live for.

St. Patrick's Day totally shamROCKS!!!

No matter how you slice it, St. Patrick's Day is a great deal of fun for everyone—young, old, man, woman, child or beast of burden. All you have to do is embrace the spirit of Ireland, get creative and then watch out for cameras. Otherwise, you might wind up on next year's St. Patrick's Day edition of Funny Photo Talk.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Uncommon uses for Listerine

Before the days of solely swishing the harsh burning liquid around in our mouth, which we now call Listerine, there were many unusual uses, dating all the way back to the 19th century.

Cure yourself, or your pet rabbit, or that pesky dandruff problem

In the early 20th century, ads in newspapers listed that studies and experiments had been done in order to see if Listerine cured people of their dandruff problems. Although the treatment has never been officially accredited, some still believe that pouring a cap full of the mouth wash on your head after washing, leaving this on for 5 minutes, and repeating for a week will relieve you of those nasty flakes. However, I can hardly stand the burning of Listerine on my gums for more than 30 seconds so I think 5 minutes on my head would be a kin to self-immolation. Oh, on the sides of those early ads for dandruff prevention, there were ads that stated rabbits too could be cured of the flakey disease by the same methods.

Face it, Listerine is now match to flossing

After Listerine began to advertise that it cleaned out that gunk and germs between your teeth just as effectively as flossing, a federal judge ruled against Listerine’s claims in 2005 and required the company to visit retailers and place stickers over the false claims on each bottle. This little bit of misinformation cost the company about 2 million bucks.

Can’t stand to swish Listerine? Than just smoke it

In the 1920s Listerine produced their own line of cigarettes. The company was able to somehow soak the tobacco with the same chemicals used to make the mouthwash. Apparently this was America’s first encounter with menthols. I guess this would be one way to combat that nasty breath after lighting up.

Listerine inspired vaccination delivery methods

In 2008, scientists working on different ways to administer vaccines at Johns Hopkins used Listerine’s breath strip idea. Now these paper like strips that dissolve in your mouth come as vaccines and can be given to children and infants who are unable to swallow pills.

1 Million Moms have scarier reasons to be worried

Last week the organization called One Million Moms was created in order to speak out against JC Penny’s hiring of Ellen to be the company’s spokesperson. But the website Funny or Die has, in response, come up with “One million other things that One Million Moms should actually worry about” and it’s hilarious.

If you don’t know already, One Million Moms is a group that loves to bash on department stores, or really anything, that celebrates same-sex marriage. They were furious after Macy’s put out their catalog featuring a wedding cake with two grooms on the top. They’ve also opposed the tv hit show Modern Family for portraying....a modern family including a gay couple. Now these stay at home moms, with nothing better to do, have moved on to JC Penny’s and have created a Facebook page to show their support for anti-gay marriage. Too bad only 40,000 members.

Here’s a few things these moms should really be turning their attention to.

Demi Moore is no longer a sound role model

Personally I like my celebrity moms doing coke or struggling with a severe battle with alcohol. But whippets? It was reported that Demi was inhaling whipping cream cans in order to get high and better deal with her recent break from Kutcher.

Sex with an Ipad

There’s a new clip on Fleshlight that men can attach to their Ipads and have a picture of a naked woman on the screen as they...well you know. Why aren’t moms up in arms over this?

Karl Lagerfeld is an ass

While visiting Metro magazine in New York, the creepy looking fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld announced that although Adele has a beautiful voice, she’s too fat. Hello! moms start assembling and sticking up for our women who may be a bit bigger but are beautiful and positive role models for our young girls.

Take time out of the day to have a laugh at some of these hilarious pics

So you’re sitting in your cubicle, it’s two o’clock and you need a pick me up. I’m not talking a shot of energy from a can but a visual break from staring at that excel work sheet. These hilarious pics will help you beat those mid day doldrums and the monotony of a long work day.

10 ways to spend quality time with your friends

If you’re like me you find it hilarious, and a bit disturbing, to look around the fancy restaurant your dining in and see people on dates not falling into each other’s eyes but rather falling victim to their smart phones. These funny pics portray just how much our friends don’t matter anymore, now that we have our iphones and apps to keep us company, even in the midst of company.

25 photos of Justin Timberlake’s hair

These photos offer a great time warp to the yesteryear of the 90s when N’Sync and JT captivated the hearts of girls (and boys). But looking back, I don’t really know what was so attractive about JT, I mean his hair was like a pile of top ramen slapped on top of his head. Check out these!

Skate faces

This is a great compilation of sixty one hilarious figure skating faces in mid twirl. Who thinks of this stuff! It’s actually really quite funny.

Winter Monkeys

If you’re day dreaming about sitting in a relaxing hot spring in the middle of a winter wilderness, you may have to just live vicariously through these monkeys.

Conan releases naked pics before it becomes illegal

If the new “Stop Online Piracy Act” (SOPA) bill is passed, it may become illegal to photoshop pictures of people’s heads on to other naked bodies. If this is the case, Conan o’brien is taking the opportunity to doctor photos while he still can without prosecution.

We can always count on Coco for a laugh and, O’Brien has delivered once again on his newest show Conan.  The other night Conan displayed his own cache seductive pictures of celebrities posing nude for the world.

Pictures included:

New North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un clutching his hairy beer belly

A buff Ron Paul posing will little else except a fedora and cloth

Simon Cowell milking a cow in nothing but rubber boots and a nasty sort of garter belt

Nancy Pelosi posing seductively on a bed wearing only a lace up corset YIKES!!

A shirtless Newt Gingrich with tattooed arm sleeves and a hairy gut

And a full nude shot of John Madden

But photoshopping celebrity heads onto naked bodies won’t be the only thing banned if SOPA is passed. The wide spread effects of the bill could potentially make it illegal to manipulate content on popular website such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and even personal blogs.

Many around the country have protested against the bill and even Obama has opposed the it saying SOPA goes against this country’s first amendment, freedom of speech. I don’t know what is yet to come of SOPA but I do hope Conan gets all his internet related content out before its too late.

Funny holiday photos

I wanted to share some of this years favorites.

One of my favorite things about this holiday season are the hilarious pictures capturing, failed attempts to set up lights on ones house, or family pics with santa for holiday cards. I wanted to share some of this years favorites:

Creepy armless Santa. This is a classic. Literally. The picture was taken like one hundred years ago and captures the true essence of these girls’ fear. What’s the deal with santa? Apparently a hundred years ago, everyone, including ole Saint Nick, was skinnier. And, this guy also  looks like he could be the Travelocity Gnome’s great grandfather. The best part of this picture is the caption. “Did we mention that he sees you when you’re sleeping”. So terrifying!

Here’s another mysterious photo from the past. Oh so many questions! Remember the part in A Christmas Story when Ralphie’s forced to wear his crazy aunt’s pink bunny suit. Well this gives a whole new spin to costumes on Christmas morning. I thought little girls dressed like princesses, not brides! And her brother! Dude what’s with the legs and glasses? Maybe he’s upset that instead of finding presents under his tree, he discovered a mini bride.

This season, this guy wanted to decorate his house in a different fashion. By hanging a dummy from his gutter and kicking over a ladder with a strand of lights hanging from the roof, this display drew many in the neighborhood literally out of their cars to save what they believed to be a real man in trouble. The jokster decided to finally take down his holiday gaff after a 55 year old woman hurt herself by positioning the ladder against the house and climbing to its top in order to save the man. He said next year he’ll just stick to the basics.

Kim Jong-il loves to look at things

I was recently reading a list of the best tumblrs from 2011. There were a lot of great ones, ranging from educational, to pop cultural, to most hilarious. It may sound boring at first but I highly recommend Kim Jong-Il Looking at Things.

The tumblr follows the North Korean dictator as he travels the country literally gawking at random items (usually wearing his signature glasses). The funniest part of it all is Kim Jong-Il’s bull-dogged jowls which you may think is his bored reaction to the items he sees. But no, this is just his face.

One thing this tumblr makes me think about is:

  1. Why does he travel so much to look at things?
  2. Judging by the expression on his face, is he even alive.
  3. Why does Kim (and his entourage) have such strong reactions to cheeses, sausages, and jam products?

Some of my favorites are:

Kim jong-il “looking at soda” while his right hand man stands intently by his side making sure his leader is pleased.

Kim jong-il “looking at sausages” he’s so pleased with the quality of meat his country produces

Kim jong-il “looking at a table of food” the most ironic picture since his entire country is malnourished and starving.

Kim jong-il “looking at cheese” He’s soooooo happy :)

Kim jong-il “looking at Dmitry Medvedev” as Medvedev actually is trying to draw Kim’s attention elsewhere.

Kim jong-il “looking at a pillar”. Everyone around, including Kim, is so content looking at building foundations.

Have a laugh for yourself. See the tumblr here.

Renaissance Babies! Yikes

During college, I studied European History. With my history courses, art history courses were a must. You don’t study medieval European history without taking a few courses in art history along the way. One thing I learned... babies from the past were really frightening.

I had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome and during my time in the city and elsewhere in Italy I saw my fair share of churches and the art work that adorns them. One image that is impossible to miss is that of Mary holding Baby Jesus. Artists used this scene repeatedly to conjure emotions within their viewers about the maternal bond between mother and child. These images signified the moment Mary first held her newborn son, but were also meant to foreshadow the inevitability of his death and her mourning.

No other image permeates Christian art as much as Mary and Jesus together. This became obvious to me when I realized the only distinguishing attribute between so many similar representations of mother and child was how the artist chose to portray his baby Jesus. During site visits to churches with my class I found myself amused and sometimes creeped out by these depictions of the baby. Most of the time he resembles a middle-aged man with a receding hair line, performing what seems to be a hostile action against his mother. The artists’ intended feelings of maternal bond were lost on me, but I found a helpful way to discern between each painting.

Fortunately for me I don’t have to feel too guilty about making fun of images of the Virgin and Child. Someone else shares my humor and has posted a tumblr of Renaissance pictures depicting these two with hilarious commentaries below. Hope you have a good laugh with these pictures. Enjoy:
